This Vienna all
beef hot dog stand has stood on 107th Ave. for 38 years and has had only
five owners. The current owners have decided to retire, once again,
and travel extensively throughout the country. They would like very
much to turn over the business to someone who cares about the community
and will carry on the tradition of selling the Vienna products to the shop’s
many faithful customers. The sale of the shop will be made as a “turnkey”
sale, with full stock, recipes and suppliers. Training will be provided.
This is a fun business with a great opportunity to meet nice people and
make many new friends, while working short hours, serving a product everyone
enjoys. For more information, call Monday through Saturday between
the hours of 9am and 4pm.

Rich’s Little Dog House
A thousand plus miles south
of the bustle and chill of downtown Chicago, nestled warmly in downtown
Treasure Island, sits an authentic Vienna Hot Dog joint. This is a warm
and friendly place, where people meet people and new friends can be made.
The food is great and
the menu offers a wide variety of choices. From a plain hot dog with just
ketchup (usually to the younger members of the family) to the signature
Chicago dog, more commonly referred to as a seven course meal on a bun.
Rich’s Little Dog House is heaven for hot dog fans! In between those two
are any choice of the I5 toppings available. Coney sauce--a zesty beef
based sauce, cooked with pepper, hot sauce, onions and Worcestershire sauce.
Surely your taste buds will sing with delight over that one. Top with melted
sharp cheddar and OOOMM—so good it is named the UMM dog, Or ask for a Steve
Special. An UMM dog with a layer of spicy Giardiniera-.REALLY SPICY REALLY
GOOD TOO. Kraut dogs, Cheddar dogs, Chili dogs with cheddar if you’d like.
Fire dogs, spicy all by themselves but who wants to eat it plain? Not Mike
or Desiree. They like Coney sauce on theirs.
Bratwurst is also popular
at Rich’s Little Dog House. Celebrate Oktoberfest with kraut and spicy
mustard toppings, and you can practically hear “ooomm papa” as you bite
into this beauty. Italian beef? Sure, they have it and Chicagoans are telling
their friends about this one.
The best they have ever
had, say most of visitors from the Windy City. Better than back home, even.
And if you are really hungry, get a beef and sausage combo. A French roll
length of spicy Italian sausage under the beef and topped with Mozzarella
cheese. Wow! You can eat all of that?
Healthy French fries—baked,
not fried in oil, to a golden brown and served hot to your table, are also
delicious. Add cheddar, chili or Coney to these spuds and you’ve got a
full plate. How about a Tamale, tasty enough just plain but what happens
to a Tamale when it gets “supremed.” It gets the full treatment—chili,
onions. tomatoes, melted cheddar, and you get a knife and fork. This is
really not finger food.
Getting thirsty from all
this food? Have a fresh brewed iced tea or refreshing lemonade. Prefer
a sweet drink? Chocolate and vanilla milkshakes are a favorite and made
to order. They contain only two ingredients-milk and ice cream--what a
concept a knife and fork can be used to consume one of these 20 ounce,
really thick concoctions. Ask Georgia about these terrific milkshakes!
Reading about it is one thing but experiencing it is unforgettable.
You really have to step
up to the counter and order the dog of your choice, and watch a simple
little hot dog get turned into an edible work of art. Rich and Barb Kitson
will always greet you with a smile and do their best to serve up your dog
anyway you like.
